So I was surfing the net and i came across this website on a French classical author who is best known for his epigrams expressing a harsh or paradoxical truth in the briefest manner possible -- François La Rochefoucauld.

Just read this along with me.

1) Quarrels would not last long if the fault was only on one side.

2) We are strong enough to bear the misfortunes of others.

3) It is more shameful to distrust one's friends than to be deceived by them.

4) The intellect is always fooled by the heart.

5) One gives nothing so freely as advice.

6) One is never as unhappy as one thinks, nor as happy as one hopes.

7) Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind blows out the candle and fans the bonfire.

Look at epigram number two. Ironic how we are much less stonger when it comes to bearing our own misfortunes. epigram number six kinda agrees with Aristotle's point when it comes to moderation (refer to previous post). And my favourite epigram by him [so far].. the one in bold. (i guess if you know me well enough you would have figured out even if i didnt mention.) And... it is Time to pick up Sophie's World (yes i know im taking an awfully long time to finish reading this book but it cant be helped!)
